What is the procedure that follows the immediate dental implant technique?
In order to carry out the placement of the dental implants in one dayFirst of all, a visit is made to take a clinical history, together with a physical examination, a photographic study of the oral cavity and a CAT scan in order to correctly diagnose the patient’s needs.
An individualized digital study is then performed with a cad-cam program to ensure sufficient bone quantity to rule out the need for bone grafting. This will also help to identify the type of dental implant that is most advisable, materials, etc.
The same local anesthesia used in the treatment of cavities or extractions is used for the placement of dental implants. If the patient so wishes, with the information provided by the CT scan and the digital study, the crown or sleeve can be prepared for placement after the implant (performed in about 10 minutes). This crown placement, performed in approximately one hour, will allow the patient to leave the clinic with the treatment completed.
This type of procedure can be divided into two types, computer guided surgery or dental implants and transmucosal implants. Computer-guided surgery consists in the elaboration of a template by the surgeon, by means of which the implants are placed without the need to open the gum.
On the other hand, transmucosal dental implants are placed by expert surgeons through the gum, but also without cutting into the gum.
What are the benefits of placing implants in one day?
The innovation of this technique lies in the fact that it does not require the use of a scalpel, so the gum is not cut, no stitches are used and the time required for this type of intervention is minimal. As there are no incisions, there is no bleeding, swelling or pain after dental implant placement.
This method allows the patient to avoid the postoperative period and immediately return to work and personal life, with greater safety, comfort and improved dental esthetics.
