Full or partial dentures
Complete or partial dentures are what are known, more colloquially, as dentures. These dentures can be of two types, full or partial dentures. In the medical environment they are known as removable dentures.
What are full or partial dentures used for?
These dentures are currently commonly used as temporary prostheses until all the treatment of dental implants, dental crowns or dental bridgesis completed.
Only in older people are full or partial dentures used as definitive dentures doing the function of dentures, which during the day allow to live normally despite having no teeth in the mouth and allow to talk, eat and relate to people
Types of dentures or dentures
Complete or partial dentures are divided into two types of dentures: partial dentures or prostheses (skeletal) and complete dentures or prostheses (traditional dentures).
Each type of denture is in turn subdivided into three types: those dentures that are supportedonly with gum (muco-supported), dentures that are supported with teeth and gum (dento-muco-supported) and dentures that are supported with implants and gums (implanto-muco-supported).
What are prostheses or partial dentures used for?
Partial dentures are those used to replace multiple teeth, never the entire teeth of the mouth. They are made of acrylic resins and in some cases have metal structures that allow them to better attach to the teeth
What are prostheses or full dentures used for?
Complete braces (full dentures) are made of a pink resin or acrylic base simulating the color of the gum. The teeth can also be resin (acrylic) or porcelain. Complete dentures are almost always made of hard resin because they have a longer life as they will be supported on the gum of the mouth and the hardness of its base allows a better, firmer adhesion that will cause less wear of the bone
